Fireman fined after his van breaks down

Its beyond belief sometimes, this is the excuse a judge has used for a FPN issued before

“But it was put to me by the prosecution that I could have broken down somewhere else,”

And then issued a fine and costs of £725!

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

  • Since when did justice and commonsense become detached from the law. This is absolutely ridiculous, I hope the judge does not have a fire soon.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Not wanting to open a can of worms here, but what does being a Firefighter have to do with it? Presumably it wasn't a Fire appliance that broke down?

Probably nothing, but newspapers are like that, for example Joe Bloggs, 37 wins the lottery, what has age got to do with it ?

It makes the story more emotive, doesn't it? Very, very irritating.

That's not the same. They only mention ocupations in emotional stories if the victim is a police officer, fireman, nurse or teacher.

You never read a story about a greengrocer being involved in a tragic incident, do you?

This really is yet another disgraceful example of our so called justice (sic) system at work.

I'm also intrigued as to why this case was apparently heard by a judge. Was this 'crime' considered to be so serious that it merited the attention of the Crown Court? Surely it was a Magistrates Court.

Others involved in this sorry saga must share collective responsibilty in seeing fit to bring the matter before a court, viz the traffic warden, the 'Principal Officer' of South Wales Police (who appears to lack principles), and last but not least, the Crown Prosecution Service.

I wonder if the fireman involved is considering an appeal against conviction and sentence. Perhaps the brother/sister/hood that is the Fire Service would assist him with his costs.
