Got a balance on a vanquis card, have been lucky enough to get approved for a halifax card on much better interest.
Tried to pay off Vanquis as a bal transfer but Halifax say Vanquis won't allow it ?
Is there a way around this anyone please

The only way it can be done is if you ask Halifax if they can do a manual balance transfer, where they pay the money directly in to Vanquis' bank account using the account number and sortcode on your Vanquis statement, using your card number as the reference. Balance transfers aren't usually processed this way and Halifax may very well refuse to do this.
I was able to balance transfer from Vanquis to another card using the above method however it wasn't to a card issued by Halifax so I'm not sure if they will do this for you. No harm in asking them though.
Failing that, you withdraw the cash amount from your Halifax card and pay that to Vanquis. Ok, you'll be charged at cash rates in addition to a fee but depending on your Vanquis rate, it may work out much cheaper. We’ve had to remove your signature. Thank you I will try option 1 and let you know if it allows it through :-)"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

Spookily i have just had the exact same thing happen with the same companie.! Halifax advised me to call vanquis to see why it was refused, vanquis will give you additional info ie an account/sort code, i called Halifax back and they said 'thanks for that we will we process it today for you' Not heard its not gone through, so i assume all is well with it now!0 -
When making a balance transfer from Vanquis to my Silvercard I had to provide the account number and sort code - it's the same one that you would use for making online payments. Once Silvercard has this, there was no problem with the BT.My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Yes, I did a post about this last week same thing! So when and hopefully when the Halifax card arrives I will explain to Halifax again.
I was advised maybe to withdraw the money from an atm and pay the rascals off:D Brians daughter - have you got your Halifax card yet?0 -
