in Credit cards
Hi,
I know this may sound odd, but i want to pay my card off in full and cancel it, how do i go about that?! As when i ring them, the automated messgae says i can't pay it in full. I'm sure i can pay it off in full online but i want to know that my card is definately cancelled too. Finished, all over, never to be used again gone!
Can i do that online? I can't see that i can.
I don't want a situation where i have cards lying around that i don't want.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Pay the money you owe by sending it using your own Internet Banking website that your bank provides. Give it about a week, and then phone them, speak to a customer service advisor and tell them you want to close the account. Cut up the cards, and this should sort it for you.
Cheers

When you say "pay in full" do you mean pay transactions that are not yet on a statement?
Many credit card on-line systems only allow you to pay the last statement amount, so the easiest way to pay more is to set up a BACS transfer from your bank i.e. rather than ask your credit card company to take the money, send it from your bank via phone or on-line banking. That way they have no control over how much you send.
You should be able to find sort code and account number to pay into on your statement where it tells you how to pay. The card number is usually the reference.
You will need to ring them to close the card (once full payment has been made and cleared). They will put you through to a "retentions" department to try to persuade you to stay. Don't get into discussions just state firmly that you wish to close the card.0 -
if you haven't being paying the balance in full each month then you need to pay the statement balance in full for two consecutive months before you can close the account
this is because even when you pay the first statement in full there will be trailing interest that will appear on the second months statementEU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%

i paid mine off last week then when it showed £0 owing, i found the automated account cancelling quite handy,,,as opposed to the usual "why do you want to cancel questions"0

Oooh that does sound good, the less people you have to talk to the better IMHO in this scenario anyway![STRIKE]£1658 Virgin Credit Card[/STRIKE]. [STRIKE]£6100 LloydsTSB loan[/STRIKE]. [STRIKE]£800 LloydsTSB Airmiles Duo + card.[/STRIKE]0
