I got my Desire HD on the 22/10/2010 (thats when the order was placed, I got the phone on 25/10/2010). It now won't charge, I've tried it in the socket, though my laptop and though my xbox 360, left it over night and still nothing.

I phoned up e2Save, who said I need to take it into Car Phone Warehouse and they'll sort it. As its over 28 days, do they still have to replace/repair it for free? Seem to remember hearing it needs to last a reasonable time, less than a month isn't in my eyes.

Any help would be great! Not heard good things about Car Phone Warehouse for customer care!

Either take it to CPW or contact HTC direct.

Your contract is with e2save wso you can insist they deal with it but to be honest I'd probably go tot HTC rather than deal with a CPW repair center.

You have the right to a repair or replacment under then warranty but it's at the retaielrs discression. Ther odd manufactiring failure is just that, you got a duff phone or battery. If they were unwilling to do anything thats a different matter, but they offering a repair so you need to let them try.

CPW will probably be faster, HTC probably do a better job of the repair, your choice.

May have changed, but I believe CPW don't attempt to repair HTc phones and just send them to the HTC repair centre anyway.
  • If its can't be repaired, they replace it free of cost.
Did with my samsung s8300 in 2009, after few months into contract with orange.
    No question asked.
They also give you a phone to use till yours returns from repairs.
    Hope This Helped.

    Quick question.

I sent it to get repaired two weeks ago today, they said it would take 28 days to get back to me, what happens if they don't get it back to me within 28 days?

Also, the phone they've given me, its crap, it can use the internet, but its so slow its not worth using, its some kind of Alcatel, can't find the model number anywhere. The main use of my phone is the internet/emails, which I've not been able to do, do I have a leg to stand on when I ask for some money of my monthly bill?

Wait till 28 days then contact them. Untill then theres no point worrying about it, however bearing in mind the weather everything is slowed from the post to the people working at the repair centre not getting into work.

Nothing you can do. The loan phone is a courtesy not a right. Your mobiile network contract gives you ability to use the network, it's down to you to have a suitable handset. The handset may be slow and poor but it has the ability you just don't like to use it. They could have said sorry no spare phones at the moment, or given you a non internet phone and left you without a phone and thats that.

Try calling and asking for a goodwill gesture, but it will be that a gesture not a right. It's no different to if you went on holiday and left the phone at home, your contract is still live and you have the ability to make calls, youre just choosing not to.

Its on its way back to Carphone Warehouse, so hopefully in the next couple of days I'll get it back.

I did have a suitable handset, until it broke, they've given me a Alcatel OT-303, which doesn't have email, the main reason I got my Desire in the first place.

Yes, I can still make phone calls, but I don't use my phone for that, 95% of it is internet/email, so I'm paying £25 a month for something I can't use at the moment.

Have to hope that its a nice person when I go and pick my phone up.
