FTB - Who have you gone for for Buildings & Contents Insurance?

I'm just wondering who everyone is going to for their Buildings and Contents Insurance.

Being FTB we have no NCD even on contents insurance although we've lived in rented for over 5 years! (naughty I know :naughty: )

I've looked at a few companies and at the moment it seems to be between Barclays and Direct Line for us. Anyone else got any other suggestions?

compare what they offer - insurance policies are often quite different.
  • Well we've tried to stick to like-for-like quotes so that we can best compare and the conditions of the policy seem to be quite standard so it's all about price now.

I was in the Ipswich BS today and got a quote for £119.53 for building (to 400 thou) and contents (to 50 thou). No accidental damage included though. I should think that they have a web site you could try.

Make sure you go through Quidco if possible

Try an online quote from Legal & General. We've been with them for three years now, virtually no annual increases, and the best combined policy we could find, both for cost and cover.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

halifax - £250, buildings (up to two million) and contents (£10,000), with accidental damage, legal fees, and tradesman call-out for emergencies.

Barclays, who are one of the front runners have Quidco but as a condidtion of the cashback you need 2 years NCD.

thinking of going with Prudential through Quidco £100 cashback ;-)
  • Got a quote through the Pru through Quidco but it came out at £409 even with £100 cash back it's nearly £100 more than my quote from Direct Line.

I guess I'll have to start building up the NCD.
