paying utilities by direct debit/cash

Options
im not sure where to put this, and i wanted to ask, as Martin often refers to Uswitch and making changes to your supplier for gas/elec - but i fail to find where people on benefits are supported. the majority of suppliers want to sign up to direct debit and if you are on limited or budget income this is not feasible. are there any suppliers of gas/elec who will accept cash payments and do any of these reduce their tariffs comparably to those using direct debit method

As far as I know people on benefits do not have horns. They can pay by direct debit or whichever way they choose just like everyone else.

As to quarterly/cash tariffs your timing is bad. The best offer (for modest users) has just been withdrawn - Scottish Power have both slashed a prompt payment discount from £150 down to £60 per year and also bumped up their tier 1/standing charges.

Ebico do not charge extra for cash payment but will be more expensive (unless your consumption is very low) than direct debit tariffs available from other suppliers.
