Waiting for Tax Refund for 7 months - Now have to wait 5 MORE months!

I am currently a student and work for Tescos during the holidays, Easter, Summer, Christmas. I worked for Tescos during Easter 2010 and was taxed £146 which I am still trying to chase up 7 months later!
I sent a p50 form originally with a copy of parts 2 and 3 of my p45 as asked, but as I was returning in the summer I was told to wait and I would be paid my refund through my first months wages. I started working again July 2010 until September 2010. I was not given my refund through my wages and during this time I rang them month after month to ask for the refund and was always told it would come the following month. Finally I left Tescos to return to university and was told over the phone that I would recieve a cheque in the post. This never happened.
I spoke to the tax office a month ago and was told to submit a p50 and parts 2 and 3 of my p45 as before - however Tescos now has parts 2 and 3 of my p45 as I had to hand these in when i returned to work in July 2010 and I now have a new p45 with no tax to date as I was on the correct tax code over the summer.

I spoke to the tax office today, who told me they can go no further with my request of a refund as I dont have the correct documentation, when I asked what they reccommend I do, I was told to wait until April when my P60 comes. This will be A YEAR after I was orignally taxed.

I'm sure you can see how fustrating this has been for me, especially as a student, every penny counts right now. I would be greatful for any advice any one could give me as I am at the end of my tether and really do not know what to do!

I know it seems annoying, but most of the time you can't get a refund until the end of the tax year. Try to make do without it and it will be a nice bonus when it comes. I've just spent 5 months on a week 1 code after being unemployed for 18 months. Looking forward to my refund in April

If you sent in parts 2 and 3 of the P45 to HMRC after Easter did HMRC return them to you? Otherwise how were you able to hand them to Tescos in July when you returned to work for them?

If you did hand the original to Tesco's when you restarted did they give you the refund via your pay hence the zero tax on the new P45?
