Hi, a bit of advice please;
we have 3 desktop PCs plugged up to a 4 port router.
we also have a wireless enabled lappy used mainly at work on their network.
Q.
Is there a receiver/transmitter unit I can plug into the the 4th. port so the lappy can be used wireless in the home?
Or am I going have to buy a replacement router?
Thanks,
B

I think you can plug in wireless network bridge. Not my forte, perhaps someone else can confirm.0

You can buy a wireless access point and plug it into the 4th port so that you can have wireless but then you might as well replace the whole thing as most, if not all, wireless points come with a built in 4 port switch.0

Maybe something like:

But for the cost you may as well replace the whole thing?0 -
the above thing is an ethernet bridge - you need an access point.
have a look at http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/112497/rb/22569363418 reasonable price at 35 quid, if you are happy with your existing kit.
It will just plug into your spare ethernet port.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Thanks guys,
Was wondering if there was a 'dongle' sort of thing to upgrade the existing router cheaply.
But I agree, for the price, may as well have the proper bit of kit.
Will probably get this one;

Thanks again

Nah, dongles are wireless adaptors, and your laptop has one integrated.0

a] bt line,
b] Netgear DG814 4 port router,
c] 3 ports occupied,
d] expecting this Netgear WG602 W.A.P. to plug up to 4th. port of the wired network router.
[re-reading my OP,
I had asked the question without being aware that there were such things as 'WAPs'].
Guidance from member Need_More_Money [telephone board] and everybody here got me on the right track!
Again, thanks a lot all.
