  • Im thinking maybe latex pillow, seen some on ebay for 20-30 quid tho i duno if their genuine or what have you. Thought about water ones but i duno if they will be cool or just watery feeling only i.e doesnt cool. Mem foam well if its more than 2in which im guessing pillows would be then they would not be the best cos they would cause you to have hot heads i think unless its proven otherwise. I want to stay well away from any that arnt cool and stay cool all night long. Also as im a stomach and side sleeper it is gona be a pain to buy a pillow as supposably stomach sleepers need thin pillows which i guess is half true but i myself sleep on my arm when sleeping on my front so i duno how that goes for pillow buying and i also like sleeping on my side 50% of the time too which needs a high loft pillow.

Think im gona look about in town on weekend see whats out their.

Im exactly the same, all my pillows are rubbish, end up folding my top one in half for extra support - however I did used to have an ikea pillow - was a foam one, the come in different shapes etc depending on how you sleep, for like the side or back etc. It was brilliant and think it only cost about £6. I just put it on top of another pillow and it worked pretty good - I really need to get a new one after I left mine at my last house :(

It was a bit like this one - looks like its gone up a little bit in price now http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10131350

I had something like one of these before it is not memory foam it is reflex foam cost about tenner iirc. I think it was alright but i just stoped using it and was probably iirc the shape of it i didnt like. I like normal shape pillows. Although saying that i did buy a V shape pillow once, which was kinda nice but it compressed and didnt bounce back after month or two usage just like any other pillow. Think i payed fiver for it.

Lookin for a pillow that defo isnt the usual fluff in cheap ones anymore as i know they will compress and be uber firm and hard over a month or twos usage.

Just looked at one of the tags in my current pillow and it says hollow polyester so that is something to be well avoided. And i cba to shake pillows to "restore" bulk as when i do it they never really fatten and lighten so im avoiding any pillows that say shake or whatever to "restore". It has to be good from buy and never needing to be tampered with to be "restored".

I have Dunlopillo ones. I've had them for years. I think they cost me £20 each but think they're a bit dearer than that now. They're latex and never go out of shape. I wouldn't have anything else now. I use pillow protectors with them, but i've also washed them in the washer on a gentle wash with no problem. They're dearer than most but definitely worth it as they save money in the long run.

Thses are similar to the ones I have. You might get them cheaper on offer somewhere. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dunlopillo-Award-Latex-Pillow/dp/B00378E6TI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_kh_7

Eventually one day a few weeks ago i went to town as was sick of been lazy in finding a pillow. Went to alot of shops and couldnt find a single latex pillow and very few decent memory foam ones. One i did pick eventually was from tk max iirc or tj huges. It was this one

    http://www.simplypillows.co.uk/acatalog/Dr_Twiner_Ultimate_Luxury_Memory_Foam_Pillow.html

For £25 which after getting back home i found cheaper online but tho duno if any site was free delivery.

Only other one i considered was one from marks and spensors which looked good and was roughly same price. I think M&S one would have been better as i think was a bit softer as the one i got is a bit more firm.

When i got it home (was snowing like mad and no bag cept the carry thing it came with) and it was in the boot of my brothers car till i got home so was a few hrs in the cold. Rock hard lol when i opened it. Soon as it warms up with the heating on tho it softens alot so im glad of that otherwise i thought crap i ruined it already haha.

Sleep wise. It keeps its shape great. Being mem foam ud think it would be warm but it keeps cooler longer than crappy polyester or hollowfiber (same thing) pillows so thats a little bonus. It is best for side sleeping but feels weird and takes getting used to. Back is about as good as side use but front use is a bit hard due to it lifting ur head alot creating a curve with ur head up but if u lie on ur arms and put ur chest on the pillow more its more tollerable.

So far its nice enough. Hope it stays the same for the next year or so.

Oh and ud need the largest pillow case as its quite large.

Memory foam pillows sound good but I hear alot about them being the genuine product or poor quality- does anyone know any bona-fide brands or any brands to steer clear of?

I just bought some silent night memory foam pillows in Asda - 2 for £10 - but when I opened mine I actually got 3 pillows, so even better value. It has taken me a couple of nights to get use to it but my husband loved them straight away.

I wouldnt trust anything under £20 for 1 memory foam pillow as they will be cutting cost somewhere i reckon.
  • Lidl have a memory foam neck support pillow on Monday for £5.99. I am going to get one, if only to try out the shape, will have to wait and see about the quality - if I like the shape then I might progress from there. No good for OH as he sleeps on his front!

I would also third the suggestion for a latex pillow - I have a dunlopillo and I have had it for 20 years now it's stays in shape and stays cool - I take it everywhere with me can't sleep on a normal pillow now. They are quite expensive but will last - you can put them through the wash - I didn't know it was latex for ages I just wondered my my pillow was better than any other pillow!

Also id like one that keeps my head cool i.e the cool feeling when u turn pillows over i want that feeling all the time not just 5 mins after u turned it as it gets warm again :(

I am exactly the same. So we bought Chillows (see here), they are fantastic. Can't recommend them enough. They keep you cool all night - do shop around though, the prices vary quite a bit. We got ours from eBay as worked out much cheaper.

    Wouldn't be without ours now!
