car 1 year warranty issue
I bought my Renault Scenic in May 2005 from car supermarket Fords Of Winsford. It still had 5 months left of the makers 3 year warranty. As part of the deal FOW gave me 1 year extended warranty.I have now got a problem with the car and phoned the extended warranty people who said my warranty had run out in May 2006. Surely the extended warranty should have started when my makers warranty ran out in november 2005. Otherwise for 5 months I had two warranties on the same vehicle.
Any body have any advice ?

I have to agree with what you say,but why are there no details on the warranty paperwork?I would contact fords at winsford,it is possible that they gave the wrong details to the warranty company,as you say what would be the point of the two running at the same time. It must be a mistake on their part.Good luck

I have already contacted them, 5 times i have phoned !!, they keep putting on to someone else. Are they trying to think of an excuse ?!!. Next phone call monday morning, I will give them to the end of the day to give me an answer.0 -
FOW are an established company of GOOD reputation, so not likely trying a 'fast one'.
I'm guessing they included the years warranty as a benefit, to run from the moment you drove the vehicle away, for 12months, regardless of any other warranty in place.
This is somethng I've done, on late registered vehicles.

it could also be that for some reason eg incorrect servicing interval means that the manufacturers warranty ceased to be valid0

 Used car warranties will usually cover the vehicle from the date of purchase for 1 year. If the car still has manufacturer's warranty remaining (i.e. under 3 years old in most cases), then the 1 year will consist of the balance of the manufacturer's warranty + a top up warranty to extend the cover to 1 year.
e.g. my car was bought July 06 and registered new March 04. It has manufacturer's warranty until next March and then NetworkQ warranty from Vauxhall until July 07.0
