Anyone recommend a decent looking, but more importantly reasonably quiet kettle? The ones I end up with all seem to be on the loud side

Which magazine have tested Kettles for noise, not sure which one came on top but you can sort the reviews on their site by the noise parameter.
I don't have my subscription anymore, but I am sure someone here can check this.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Get a 2200 watt kettle, not a 3000 watt one if you require a quiet one.0

Magimix 11565 wins the Best Buy for Which and is £75 from john lewis!
Worth a look - shiny stainless steel and got 81% on test.0 -
@£75 does it also make your cup of tea for you are well? lol
OP: Why do you need a quiet kettle? Do you sleep in the kitchen?
Capacity is my main issue with most kettles, they are too damn small. My previous Cordon Bleu kettle from Argos, 1.8 litre Stainless steel with black handle and top was fast to boil and worked well until the hinged top broke off. That was about £20 but quite a bit less with various vouchers. It was a good kettle for the 5 or so years it lasted. My current kettle is a Stainless steel Kenwood. Not as attractive as the previous kettle, straight sides with round top, slightly smaller capacity and slower boiling time.....I tested them against each other and the older kettle won by quite a margin.0 -
Thanks everyone(did click on the 'thanks' but all it did was disappear?? Will try again later)
I will take a look at the magimix although tbh it sounds a bit pricey for a kettle.
Lol No I don't sleep in the kitchen but as some in the household are early risers and others night birds( in a house with low ceilings) anything to keep the noise down is a bonus.0 -
