Protect your laminate as soon as possible with plastic, paper or whatever until you find a solution. Kitty wee is not kind to wood plus the joins are not watertight so wee can seep under it into the underlay and get a bit whiffy plus it can cause damage that lifts the area.

My old girl missed every time - she felt the kitty litter under her front paws and didn't care where her behind was - we got a bigger tray and placed it on a large rubber car boot-liner (they have a lip all the way round) - this meant it was effectively a tray within a tray - it worked but half of our utility room was converted into a kitty loo because of this contraption :D.

Luckily it's only the poop on the laminate, he seems OK when he needs a wee.

The last couple of days he managed fine so maybe he is getting the hang of it!

I have a tray for my old girl just at night (saves a 2/3am yowling session) I put a sheet of plastic and some newspaper under the litter tray she sometimes misses with wee...

  • I get the 2am 'oh my gosh! It's the middle of the night and I've just woken up and NOBODY'S TALKING TO ME! PANIC!!!!!!!' sessions from the wretched creature even with a tray in the upstairs bathroom.

That gets me the 4am digging-for-burnied-treasure-in-Australia session.
