Do I have to declare Halifax rewards?

I'm working and my partner is on JSA so we're applying for housing benefit. I'm wondering if the £15 a month I get from Halifax for depositing £1000 in my 3 accounts need to be declared as 'additional income'. I don't always remember/have the dosh to do the transfers so it's not regular.

Logic says yes but I want to be sure.

If your partner is on contributions based JSA then your income isn't taken into account so you don't have to mention it. If your partner is on income based JSA then it may have an effect as it is based on your joint income if living together.
  • Thanks for your reply but it's for the housing benefit not the JSA so will be based on our joint income. He is contributions based.

If you have been doing it for over a year, I'd add up everything you got from it from the last 12 months, then divide that by 12 to give a monthly average.
