fit a cd changer to a ford focus

Options
can anyone point me in the right direction for some instructions on the net on how to fit a ford 6 cd changer to my current ford 5000 radio/cassette player in my focus? or does anyone know how to anyway? I have the cd changer with brackets as its to be fitted under the passenger seat, and also the long wire to connect it to the radio/cassette in the dashboard.

Please help.

  • Someone over at the Ford Focus Owners Club will know I expect.

My Haynes manual tells you how to remove the CD changer and it involves removing the front seat. You'll obviously have to remove the radio / cassette so make sure you have the security code before you start.

The carpet will have to come up if you want to hide the wire too.

Not a job for the faint-hearted!

    Hello mikeyboy32

I think that your thread will be better placed in the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, so I'll move it across for you.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

  • Hi,
I've got no problem with fitting the cables in mine. They don't have to go under the carpet from what I can see. Whatever I have to do hiding the cables won't be a problem. The difficult thing for me is working out how to fit the brackets under the seat. I can't even figure out how to remove the seat as despite being a LX model it has a cable connected to it.

Only fitting the brackets to the seat are stopping me from ending the wife's grumbling (it's her car..)

was just going to recommend the FFOC but you beat me to it ;)
  • Hi,
Rather than start taking seats out of the car (dont forget there are seat belt pre-tensoiners under the seats to be disconnected -electrical multi plug) and having to drill holes to fit the cd changer bracket. I purchased some of the heavy duty 'velcro' pads, one side stuck to the changer(the claw side - dunno what the technical term is !) and positioned the changer under the passenger seat using the 'velcro'. Never had any problems with the changer moving because the 'velcro' gripped the carpet, and the changer never had any problems with cd's skipping.
    God luck
