British gas smart meter install
Options
Hi there,
I have received a letter from British gas stating that they are going to change my gas and electricity meters to new 'smart meters'
I need to be at home for the visit, can anyone advise me on how long i takes so i can book the time off work?
Also has anyone had any issues with this?
thanks

I had mine done last month. The actual job takes about 40 mins but the problem my engineers had was getting the first signal. In my case it took 2 mins but others on the day had taken up to a couple of hours.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

No matter how quickly they do it, BG will probably only tell you the day they are coming. (8am - 8pm)
If you ask them, they should give you a morning, afternoon, or evening appointment.
If you really push them, they may give you a two hour window for arrival time ... but it's not easy.
Best to choose an appointment after work or perhaps a Saturday morning?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thanks MillicentBystander.
I'm not sure if this counts as official or not - it's independent market research. However, I'll check with the forum moderators.
Thanks again
