Our family would love to change our practical yet boring gas fire into a real fire..hence the title. Who does it gas man or builder or specialist ? What is involved? How much ? Has anyone had this done? Thanks for you input .Sue

Search for open fire. I did this myself. Very easy

Do you still have proper chimney's that have not been blocked off or altered?
Do you live in a smokeless zone? Gas piping will probably need moving and check the chimney
has a back boiler, May need work.
Parents recently removed theirs, Surprising what you may find. Cast iron grate was still full of ash/dust?
