I guess they want to see if there is any reference to warranty which given how quickly the bike broke is not really necessary as it’s a sale of good issue.

Having said that, you’re going to struggle if you can’t document what happened, why don’t your garage want to get involved? Are you sure they are telling the truth and not trying to drum up work?
