if the value of your order is above £18 you will get charged custom duty. If the order is marked as 'gift' then you wont have to pay any duty.

if you buy a cernty amount of items they charge you a small tax a couple of dollars but some time the charge import tax when you get to the uk it is pot luck on this , i have had around about 100-120 shipment from the usa and olny had this once is around £8 pounds

if you are ordering lots of items from amazon usa it is best to use 2 day shipping as you will not recive this tax as it flys through customs

People do it and "never have problems" but there's always a first time.......

I am ALWAYS the "first time"... its sods law. Everybody gets away with it and I try a £20 box set and it will get picked up, I'll get taxed, Bank will cancel my card (as they seem to cancel it if i take a shopping trip to london let alone America!!) and I'd probably discover my DVDs wouldnt play. I love a bargain and I know I'd get addicted if i look at Amazon.com so best stear clear for me, good luck everyone else though (im just too chicken to risk it) :D

I just tried to see what would happen if I ordered from US site. At the last stage it converted to british pounds but didn't apply the promotion? Not sure if this was just a one-off mistake?
  • Think I might go for the darts. The kids keep breaking all my OH's.

What do we reckon - £10?
