Uni wanting £65 for tuition fees???

To be fair to the OP and their parents, it sounds like the DLA is actually being used for what it is meant to be used for - the additional expense which is incurred due to the OP's disability, rather than for things everyone has to pay for.
tbh no it doesn't.
I don't know how much visits to the hospital cost or how much DLA the OP gets but I'm sure costs associated with the hospital visits are more than covered by the DLA payments.
Which begs the question what is going to happen to the surplus?2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310
2nd Purse Challenge:
£15.88 saved to date0 -
There are two questions one which asks how much your university is charging for tuition fees. If you put £3225 for that question which is looks like you did, even if you select maximum for the loans it will only give £3225 not £3290 as obviously they are not going to give you a loan for more than you say your university is charging.
You need to try and get them to change the amount your uni is charging for fees to £3290 in your application and the change the loan amount to match.
This happened to my grand-daughter,she was asked for the same amount she just went online to student finance and sorted it out from there.
She says it was all sorted out and she got a letter within the week.0 -

Not necessarily, depends entirely on what rate DLA the OP is getting, where and how often her appointments are and how she needs to travel.
I get low rate care and mobility which though is a help does not completely pay for the travel costs incurred by my family members when they come to look after me because my OH has to go away for work, nor does it cover the travel costs of my OH and myself when we travel to see my specialists (and that's not taking into consideration of holiday/salary lost by my OH taking time off work).0 -
This happened to someone on my course and he just decided to pay the shortfall himself as SFE take ages to sort things out sometimes and the uni was putting pressure on him to get it sorted.0

I am on low rate mobility so mrsmanda is right, it only really covers travel. Thats what it is there for!

I think many of us don't think that the topics are separate. You need money to pay this extra and your parents have money that is yours. The answer seems simple.0 -
..... Therefore the DLA goes to them to look after on my behalf so its there for my medical expenses when needed. If it went into my account it would end up going on accomodation/food and I would be stuck if I needed something related to my disability.
I still don't see why you shouldn't receive the money. It sounds like you need it. Withholding it is hardly helping you. If it needs to be set aside for petrol, why wouldn't you be able to do that?0 -
OP, did you manage to sort the problem with SLC ok? I ask because my friend is now in a similar situation with the same amount at our university.
On a slightly different but fees related question, am I right in thinking that its not possible to claim tuition fee loan for the cost of a module resit?0
