English Heritage

Options
I was thinking of using mt Tesco club card deals to buy an annual English heritage memberships. I would need to buy two memberships for me and my husband @ £38 each. Kids are free.
On their website it says free entry to over 400 places. Does free entry apply to all their properties ?

  • IIRC yes it does, though some special events - living history days, ghost tours, etc - may have admission charges, but members get a discount to these.
  • Wouldn't paying for a couple @ £65 be better?
  • Dont forget that in the first year you can go to any Historic Scotland places for half price - It is free after the first year.

My family have Historic Scotland membership - we pay about £5.20 ish by direct debit every month.

It is great. We try to go somewhere at least once a month. They are very family friendly - children do like the blood and gore that castles have to offer. There are places for picnics and members do get a discount on things they buy in the giftshop.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Yes- but it's worth mentioning that some of their sites are free anyway, for example minor stone circles and ruins with no visitors centres. Entry prices to all of their sites are on their website. However, it is still very good value for money if you think you'll go often, and the special events are of a very high standard.

It depends where you live as to wether its good value. In Cheshire all we have is Beeston castle and that is a pain to drive to. But we have had membership for years because we often go to Yorkshire where there are dozens of English Heritage sites.
