LED-Is this normal?!

Options
Hi,
Just hoping some knowledgable peeps can help me with this.

I went into a shop today to have one last look at an LG LED tv I was hoping to buy, however although I was only looking at it for 5 mins the screen was constantly changing darkness/brightness sometimes up to five shades in one go. I have no idea if this is normal or not as I have heard that LED's are supposed to 'adjust' somwhat but it was really obvious and annoying and I can't believe anyone would put up with it! Should i write off the tv as a dud or should I be expecting that to happen?...

Thanks
