Is it a green one or a spotted one? We sometimes get a green one outside on the green, poking its beak into the grass. Did you see on Autumnwatch Unsprung last week about the green woodpeckers? I never knew they had a tongue like an anteater.0 -

Sorry - vanished on my last HHCook, but a couple of chaps from the village suddenly turned up today to prune my fruit trees (they do them every year - we have an orchard). So I had to go out in the sleet to [STRIKE]haggle forcefully[/STRIKE] negotiate politely with them :mad::mad::mad: about which branches they would take off my beautiful Bramley apple tree and my quince tree, both of which got rather overweighted with the crop this year and were rather sagging.
[Why is it that men just want to take the easy option and hack an entire branch off (thus ruining the shape of the trees!) :mad:??? I think they probably just want to use a chain-saw rather than a hand saw and loppers. Boys and their toys, huh!;)]
Anyhow, [STRIKE]I got my way[/STRIKE] we came to an amicable agreement, and I have then dashed around like a mad thing with my list:
[STRIKE]* Dishwasher
* Strip cold chicken; stock with bones[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* Decant Xmas puds (in simmering oven from o/night)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* Wash up pans[/STRIKE]
* Clean loos - loo cleaner is down the loos, working
[STRIKE]* Change towels wherever needed[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* Overnight load of washing?[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* Empty airing cupboard
* Put clothes away[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* 30 mins in garden - winter protection! Also plant pak choi[/STRIKE]
* 30 mins work: confirm appointments, get files in order
[STRIKE]* Hairwash[/STRIKE]
* Make a fruit cake - soaked the fruit
[STRIKE]* Make bread
* Make naan breads[/STRIKE]
* Make curries - one made, one to go
* Sort out handbag before it gives way
* School run
* Meals, homework etc
Nearly time for the school run, now, so not much more will be done.Still - not a bad haul, and the curries will feed us more than once (will freeze down half).
Hope all is well with you all
MissH

My larder unit has all been emptied, cleaned, sorted, de cluttered and refilled.:j
I'm going to do the oven unit cupboards today and leave the rest until tomorrow. So far there has been no evidence of any intruders! (fingers crossed )0
