Winter clothing for cyclist
Comments

I've got a 6 mile ride to work and to be honest if its cold I just tend to peddal harder until I'm warm enough. The only problem with this is that it doesn't warm your hands and going faster makes things worse.
My conclusion - you cant beat a good pair of winter gloves. People have different oppinions on gloves but I prefer them a thin as possible while being wind proof and waterproof. Various levels of padding are available to suit any preference. I wouldn't advise on getting cheap ones though as they can fall to bits pretty quickly.0 -
I got cheap waterproof ski gloves from TK Maxx. They aren't the latest in style but keep the fingers warm.
If he's concerned about the naff looking waterproof overshoes (you can get one kind that fits all kind of shoes, not just cycling shoes) then try waterproof socks. Baselayers are cheapest at Decathlon AFAIK - possibly amazon too.
A thin beanie worn under the helmet isn't too bad either, although you get terrible helmet hair
Agree to check out wiggle.co.uk, or find the product you like and just google it and see what offers come up. Lots of offers at the moment - I got a hi viz waterproof/windproof jacket for £34 recently; usually £45-50.0
