Hi guys, i would like my own wind turbine (household one) and solar panels (not on the roof on the ground) where, who and how can i get these things? I want them on my own terms not linked to any energy companies too, if i can get there i will be a huge step closer to being self sufficient.
Thanks if you can help with the info.

If you are talking about being off-grid, then perhaps you have not considered that: solar panels will only provide power during daylight hours, and a wind turbine will only provide power when the wind blows. Otherwise how are you intending to store any energy that these might produce? If not, are you content to sit in the dark the rest of the time?
Domestic size wind turbines are a waste of time, the likely output is tiny. Solar PV panels might provide 40% of your daylight hours electricity if you can afford a large enough array, say 12 panels or upwards. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

For the smaller budget, see Grand Design (Kevin McCloud).
There was a charcoal burner who has no girlfriend who did it.
He stores the electricity in car batteries.0 -

It is totally impractical, you need the grid for voltage control, otherwise you will destroy all the appliances in your home.0 -

If you get a lightning strike, you can also have fried appliances, hence you have surge protectors for computers, even on the grid.
A camper van is also living off grid, and there are plenty of 12/24V appliances around. DC voltage Satellite TV, so you can still be a couch potato in the wild.:D0 -
Whilst I can understand the desire to be self sufficient before you rush off with your cash I'd contact your local planning office & check whether you need / are likely to get permission for your plans. Solar panels maybe but a wind turbine may be a problem if you live in a conventional area / manner I suspect0
