Prague - Spending money?

Hi
Going to Prague for 3 days/2 nights in December. Just wondered how much spending money we should plan on taking? Will probably just sight see without actually paying to get into places through the day and then a meal and few drinks on a evening. Hotel is central and breakfast is included so no need to worry about any added costs here.
Also should we take Czech or euros?
Thanks

This will tell you everything you need to know.
Do not change currency until you are there or
better still withdraw with ATM card out there.0 -
It's a few years since we were there, but I remember we never spent much, struggled to spend our money. Food and drinks cheap. We also went to Dresden for the day on the train.0

I've been twice in the last few years, the last time being last year, and I have to say that the prices in the Old town have shot up in recent years. I'd avoid eating out there if at all possible.0 -
Hi, going to Prague several times per year. Depends if you want to dine in posh places or eat in pizzerias..
1GBP is roughly 28 czech crowns. You can have easlily nice meail for 2 in pizzeria with beer and soft drink for 400-500 Czech Crowns.
I would take 3000 crowns ( about 100 pound).
And as advised above do not eat at Old town square! Too expensive!Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
It's not as much the prices shot up (they have, but not dramaticaly), it's the fact that sterling fell in value by massive amount.
3 yrs ago - £1 = Czech krona 40
Now = Czech krona 27.50
Definitely do not exchange money here - the rate you get in UK is absolutely ridiculously low.
Just take sterling with you and exchange once you are there.. and as needed. No need for Euro.
To eat at the evening.. there is a lovely restaurant, close to Wenceslav Square which is not too touristy..
http://www.restaurace.cz/praha-1/bredovsky-dvur.html there is a map on the right hand side - as you see the restaurant is on street (Politickych Veznu) parallel with Wenceslav square (Vaclavske Namesti). My husband loves this place. Good beer and good local food.
If you want any more advise, don't hesitate to ask again. We go to Prague about twice a year:-)0 -

Thanks, that's around the figure I was hoping for tbh. There is me and my OH going so have budgeted for around £200.00.0 -
We ate here (below link), so yes we did eat pizza/pasta and it was good and very reasonable. I'm afraid to say we went to different branches, and may even have ate there every night (3 nights).
I think there may have been 40 crowns to the pound when we went. Still looks pretty reasonable, so I would expect there are still good deals to be had. Much cheaper than uk. We did have wine in a square one night (clock tower if I have the right city!), and it was normal city prices, about £4 a glass. This was more than we paid anywhere else though.

Hi, I've just come across this thread looking for fellow MSE member's advice on Prague as I'm off there with my friend for her birthday at the end of this month. We're going for 5 nights from 20th -25th January and I'm wondering how much spending money we'll need? Our accommodation includes breakfast which is a bonus but we're both on a bit of a tight budget as it's not that soon after Christmas/New Year so any info/tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Oh I forgot to add that we're both female and in our mid-twenties0

Pink: it all depends if you want to shop or just eat and see places. If you are on tight budget you can easily get food for about 300 Kc = crowns per day per person, that is about £10-£11.
You can eat in chinese places (about 80Kc) or get pizza for 100Kc. Just don't eat at Old Town Square, it is very pricy there. Smichov where you staying is much cheaper.;)Best wins ever:

I was in Prague recently and it was more expensive than I was led to believe (probably due to the drop in value of Sterling as Any points out above).
We stayed in the Zizkov district which is cheaper than the old town. As we arrived before the 2pm check-in time we went for lunch at Pod Viktorkou in Zizkov which consisted of 1 shared starter 2 mains and 2 small beers and price including tip was just under £20.
Dinner at Sklep, a bit further along the road came to just over £20 with tip for 2 courses each and 3 small beers.
We didn't go into any pubs in the centre but in Zizkov you could get a beer for around £1.
I think the only place we went in the old town was a cafe that charged a tenner for 2 coffees and 2 cakes. My cake was rubbish and the coffee tepid so we didn't tip!
The best meal we had of the holiday was at Dačickýs in Kutna Hora, a UNESCO world heritage site about an hour's train ride away, and the town famous for the "bone church".
We had Ghoulash soup served in bread each, followed by "Moravian Smoked Pork" and "castle potatoes" (delicious) and a regular small beer and a beer with mead was just over £17 with tip. It has a bit of a Heston Blumenthal-esque menu:

We were there for 4 nights and (excluding the coast of the hotel) spent about £250 between the 2 of us.
I transfered some Sterling at Prague airport and got about 27CZK to £1. I can't remember the commission but I got hit with a £3 charge exchanging 1500CZK back into Sterling at Edinburgh airport and only got £45.
American Express don't charge the £3 to change back into Sterling if you use them to change your money initially and have the receipt to prove it so I probably should've done this as the exchange rate wasn't much better in Prague.
I only took out cash from an ATM once while I was there and was charged nearly £3.
The exchange rate listed in shops around the old town was 25CZK to £1, 24CZK to €1 and 18CZK to $10
