charge on property with land registry

I have neither the time, the inclination or the need as it happens. If you wish to prove your point by posting something that says they DON"T have to inform you when a charge is placed on a property - if that is what you are saying, as you don't make it very clear - then feel free to do so and I will be happy to admit I am wrong, if what you post proves that I am.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

It is understandable your frustration at realising that your mother is going to have to pay for her care and that that has frustrated your expectations, by way of eating into your inheritance.
You can phone the Land Registry up on monday and shout at them as much as you want as well if you wish, however if you intend to perform damage limitation on your inheritance, then rather than posting on here and not getting the answer you want:
you should make the time gather the inclination and accept the need to do some significant in-depth research because your Mother, hopefully, is going to be cared for exceptionally well and live for a very very very long time.

It is understandable your frustration at realising that your mother is going to have to pay for her care and that that has frustrated your expectations, by way of eating into your inheritance.
You can phone the Land Registry up on monday and shout at them as much as you want as well if you wish, however if you intend to perform damage limitation on your inheritance, then rather than posting on here and not getting the answer you want:
you should make the time gather the inclination and accept the need to do some significant in-depth research because your Mother, hopefully, is going to be cared for exceptionally well and live for a very very very long time.

I have no intention of shouting at anyone at the Land Registry. I would not be so rude and would not blame an employee of a large organisation for any inadequacies of the organisation they worked for.
My mother died 2 months ago actually. Not that that is any of your business. However, if you had read post number 5 in this thread you would see that I refer to my late mother. I did make it MY business to ensure that she was well cared for during her long and agonising illness.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
I did know about my ex's debt before taking out the mortgage and Nationwide informed me verbally that they could not touch the property we were buying as my name was on the mortgage. I was never informed of a charge on the property. When we split I heard from the CAB 6 yrs later, that Nationwide was requesting his debt and that his only asset was the property as his name was on the mortgage. Nationwide never warned me as a customer of this and I had informed them we had separated. To cut along story short, I hired a solicitor whom informed me that we could let him take me to court (he had only contributed to 3 months payments on the property) but it would cost me around 10K to fight the case, her advice was to remortgage and get his name off the mortgage and pay his debt. In total that cost me 20K with costs and interest etc. I am so glad I took the mortgage out with another building society. I found the charge on my property by pure channce on a property website dated 15/11/2010 they had stated when I bought the property and what price I paid, that information was when my ex and I had bought the property. I rang my current mortgage lender and they told me I had to contact Nationwide to remove the charge. I am outraged at their obnoxious behaviour as I was a customer of theirs and they had never informed me of this. From what I have read a Land Registry charge on a property has to go through the courts, surely I should have been informed. I have sent an email to the CE of Nationwide as I am wanting an explanation.0
