ESA to JSA and back again?

Hubby redundant from June and within 2 days of finishing work ended up in hospital for a week with pancreatitis. Claimed CB ESA as although they gave him blood transfusion they had not got to the bottom of cause and dr had given him a sick note. 6 weeks later ended up back in with renal failure and pancreatitis - pretty bad and in High dependency for a week followed by a few days in ward then out. Follow up tests (endoscopy and colonoscopy) identified a gallstone as cause - what a relief after 4 months to know what the cause was and he had appointment for ERCP last Friday to get the stone removed.
In the meantime he had his ESA medical and flunked with zero points and was told to apply for JSA which he did, he has been looking even whilst on ESA as desperately needs to get back to work for sanity and finances (I work so no other benefits)
All went well until last week when ended up in A&E on Thursday and was admitted - at first we thought it was another pancreatitis attack but seems that the pain could have been caused by the stone moving. They canned the op on Friday so he still has this stone in him and not sure how long they are going to keep him (and it) in. They are focussing on getting the pain under control.
now the question - what happens when he goes to sign on on Friday next week (assuming he is out of hospital) he has been monitorring his email re a number of jobs he has been put forward for but not really in a position to be applying for new ones. Given that they stopped his ESA due to him being fit will they turn round and say he should be claiming that again and not JSA?
and what happens if he is still in hospital? should we be contacting them now?
sorry neither of us have ever claimed benefits before in 20+ years of working.

I can't give any advice I'm afraid. Wish I could as you must be worried sick.
I'm simply 'bumping' your post back up to the top.
Hope hubby recovers soon.
