In 50s, worth putting O, A level grades on CV?

Once you are in your fifties and have been in fulltime employment for over 30 years, is it still necessary or desirable to put the actual grades of your O and A levels on your CV?
I'm trying to advise a friend. Some of his grades are C and D and I'm thinking it's better not to list the actual grade just put A level maths for example.
Does anyone know a website that states you should not include the grades?
THANKS!

Not being in my fifties i wouldn't know, but in my thirties and i have never put grades of the exams i took on a cv, i personally don't feel they are relevant now or ever were.0

I am in the same age-group as your friend and I can't think of any potential employers in the past who have ever asked me about what grades I attained.
At our age it's the experience gained and our achievements that's important to an employer. My paltry O Level pass in Geography isn't of interest to anyone, not even myself.0 -
I wouldn't put the grades in, I'd just put how many I had, for example:
4 A Grades
7 O GradesDebt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
Comp Wins 2014: None yet0 -
No, I would not put the grades on. If he has a degree, I would not even put anything about O and A levels at all.
If O and A levels are his highest qualifications then, depending on the type of job applied for, he might need to state that he has a grade C or better in Maths and English O levels because for some jobs there is a checklist against a 'minimum person spec' and the box-tickers might reject his CV if he doesn't have that on. Otherwise, no.0 -

He doesn't have a degree but does have a diploma that he needs for his particular specialist profession.0 -

Although I agree that just the number of passes (perhaps adding "including English and Maths") need be used, I just wanted to point out that your friend's C and D 'O' level grades were perfectly acceptable passes in the 70s when there were 6 pass grades. Both C and D are equivalent to grade B at GCSE where there are only 3.0 -
I'm in my 30s, and I don't put grades down. I just state 10 GSCEs including [insert the core or relevant ones] or 3 A-Levels in xxx, xxx and xxx. Even if the grades are excellent, I think experience and and applied skills are more important and should take up the majority of the CV, and listing grades takes up valuable space.0

I am proud to put my O' Levels down on my CV but don't give the grades. The only disadvantage is that the potential employer will have some idea of my age.0

D-E were a fail0 -
I don't believe that ANY school grades matter once you've either had a University education OR been in regular employment for, at least 5 years.
I think application forms always ask for them. I note how many O'Levels/A'Levels I passed if I'm pushed, but what on earth do I remember about any of them????
I don't think your friend has to worry about it, sounds like they've had a positive working life - good on them and good luck.0
