Yes you would be able to do that. But the channels you would receive in the other rooms would only be the free ones eg BBC1,BBC2,ITV etc.

    Thanks Marty

so even if i sourced the boxes and cable myself, id still need to pay Sky for 2 more cards (£10 each a month i think?) to watch and record other channels in the 2 bedrooms?

Well you wouldnt need to pay them anything if you only wanted to watch the free channels but you wouldnt be able to record them.
So if you wanted to watch the same channels you get on your main package in your living room you would have to pay the additional £10 a month, im not sure if you would get a discount for 2 multirooms but at the most I think it would be £20 a month. Your best bet would be to phone sky or check their website.

    Hope this helps:)

AFIK, you could DIY (i.e. bodge it) using splitters and cable to other rooms which would enable you to watch FAFS channels you like in a.n.other rooms, but to record you would need another sky card. If you are thinking "I lost the card, Sky please send another" think again as they will deactivate your old card.
    I would suggest this> http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=224750

You might want to consider Sky Player to view over the internet in other rooms.

Never use splitters on a Sky box, you'll blow the cable and possibly the Sky Box(es) as well. They have a current going throught them.

    thanks again people :T

If i run cable in myself (from the dish - from the LDN am i right?) what sort of box etc do i need to fit to the wall in each room where the sky is going to be used?

am i right in saying i run satalite quality co-ax from the dish to whatever room i want, thru wall and can it continue straight on to the box wherever its located? no need for a socket typre box on the wall?

sorry for the simpleton questions :o

It's an LNB (Low Noise Block)...
If you want 3 Sky+ boxes, you'll also need an octo LNB (8 outputs), two feeds to each box.
You can either terminate it at the wall in a twin F Connector faceplate and use a fly lead to the box (the more elegant solution) or cable straight through the wall into the box.

It is an LNB, not an " LDN ", yes run it directly in to each receiver.

Make 100% certain that the connection to the LNB is 100% waterproof, I use self amalgamating tape.

That will be why MAPLINS sell them :rotfl: For a splitter suitable for satellite please use BM90X. > http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=9273
