Anyone bought Prudential Car Insurance recently?

I bought Prudential Car Insurance via their website; the policy commenced 2 weeks ago.
On their website it stated (and still states).........
This was the only reason I bought the policy from Pru, as they were a few quid dearer than my lowest quote but it worked out as the best deal when the breakdown cover was factored in.
When the policy documents arrived I scoured them from start to finish, and there was absolutely no mention ANYWHERE of any breakdown cover!!!
Who was I supposed to phone if my car broke down?? There was no information anywhere.
So I phoned them up 8 days ago and the lady said "Oh, right, your policy doesn't seem to have breakdown cover with it". I told her the website clearly says the breakdown cover is applied AUTOMATICALLY, so where is it??!!!!
She stuttered a bit, and didn't seem to have a clue about the offer, but eventually said she'd send me a Green Flag policy pack in the post.
Guess what - I still haven't received it.
So I obtained Green Flag's number today and phoned them to ask if I'm listed as a customer. Their answer? NO.
I guess more phone calls and stern letters are in order, but I'm just fuming that 2 weeks have passed and I still haven't had the promised breakdown cover, despite me even phoning them to chase it up!!!
Good job my car hasn't broken down in the last 2 weeks.
Has anyone else had the same problem?

FREE GREEN FLAG BREAKDOWN COVER
For a limited period you will also receive free level 1 breakdown cover for the first year of your policy (offer expires 31 Oct 06). This cover will be applied automatically when you obtain a quote.

I have not had that problem, but when I see an offer on a website that looks good, I make sure I print off the offer, they can always disappear into the ether, and at least then you have proof it existed.0

Hi,
I just took insurance with Pru and I am the same. I tried adding the bottom level of cover but the price increased. I still have 8 months left off my own breakdown cover, so it doesnot really effect me so much
My documents didnot mention anything either. You can cancel within 14 days if that helps?
Regards

I've just taken out car insurance with the Pru. to start on 25th. Oct. Seeing your post reminded me that although I've got the paperwork for the insurance there is no Green Flag. Just phoned them, they said documents should have been sent out at the same time as the insurance, if I don't get them on Monday to phone them again and they will re-issue. Phoned on 0800 300 300, didn't press any buttons just waited till a person came on the line. HTH.0

Thanks OP, I have been meaning to follow this up for weeks now, just never got round to it! You have just prompted me the phone them, and it will be with me in 5 working days!0

An update on the Pru saga. No Green Flag cover in post today so phoned the Pru, they said paperwork would come direct from Green Flag, gave me an 0800 number which I rang and guess what, they said the paperworks comes from the Pru. While I was on the line I asked him to check that I had got cover, had to give my car registration number, yes he says you're covered for you Citrone (sp?) well that's good but I have a Ford. He wouldn't change it, the Pru would have to do that.
Back on the phone to the Pru, got a very nice woman who said that Green flag were good at breakdowns but rubbish at admin. She promised she would sort it out there and then and make sure I was covered for the correct car. Said that paperwork could take 10 days to arrive but she gave me the freephone number to call if I should breakdown before Green Flag send me the documents.
I'll keep you posted. If the breakdown cover and the £100 from Quidco arrives I shall be well pleased.0 -
£100 Quidco payment received by Quidco for a Prudential policy taken in August received today. No breakdown cover as that promotion started later but more than happy with the £100!0

Just an update. Breakdown cover has arrived. Hopefully the £100 from Quidco will come in a couple of months.0

Thanks OH for making me check my documents! We took the policy out for the same reason. Figured breakdown cover would be a added bonus, being as our manufacturers cover would be ending.
We have our breakdown documentation but I have to admit that I was previously with Green Flag and they arnt the best!! ...But there you go!
I got my £100 from Quidco, so that was a bonus! "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0
