Co op foreign object in crisp packet

I was eating a packet of cheese and onion crisps from the co op which I found to taste rather odd. After I chewed something hard which I assumed to be a tough piece of crisp and so swallowed I tasted a strong taste of wood like I'd chewed a pencil! I looked in the packet I found a piece of charred wood about 3 inches by 1 inch. I still have the packet with the remaining crisps and wood in it.
I emailed coop customer relations ( the address on the back of the packet) with my complaint on 15 November and recieved an automated reply. But heard nothing since. I'm going to write a follow up email and also send it as a letter but I'd like to say that if I don't receive a reply within 14 days I'll take the matter further. But I don't know who I can go to? Is there a government agency that I can go to for help? Like the financial services ombudsman is for financial services?
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Henry.

You bought Co-op own brand crisps and were surprised they tasted odd? Personally I would have kept quiet, they may actually charge you for the wood :-)0

Mmm..chargrilled.Squirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I actually quite enjoy co op crisps. Well I used to anyway. They don't have to charge for the wood as I'll be sending it back!Debt Is Slavery.0 -
