Does this count as a claim?
about 4 or 5 months ago, a brand new ferrari 458 italia on foreign plates hit my car. He ended up driving off before the police arrived to the scene (he had punched me repeatedly).
Anyway, so I ended up calling my insurers in the hope they might track him down as I (rightfully as it turned out) believed the police would do jack !!!! about it.
Anyway, the damage to my car was a dent in my front wing, which i push out myself with minor damage. I also told the insurers at the time that I didnt want to proceed with a repair through them.
Where do i stand in terms of a claim. Does it still count in respect of renewing my policy as there would have been some cost to them in respect of contact a legal team (who couldnt help) and sending me a couple letters.
Do I need to declare this as an accident?

Yes.
If you are asked if you have had any accidents or losses in the past x years, whether a claim is made or not, then you must declare it. Not only would you void your insurance by being dishonest, but it is a criminal offence to obtain a certificate of insurance this way.0
