Creda Storage Heater

Hello

Struggling to work my storage heaters. I moved into a rented flat about 4 months ago and have finally decided I need some heating, problem is the big heater in the livingroom has no Input/Output dials.

It has two buttons, the left one says "Fan and I can choose between O, I or II. The right one says "Boost" and I can choose between O or I and there is a dial at the right of that for "Room Temperature" which goes from 1 to 6. These buttons seem to only be for the fan part of the heater (it seems to be an electric heater at the bottom too for instant heat).

I can't find any other buttons anywhere and when googling everyone is saying about input/output buttons (which the one in the hall has) but I don't have any!

Anyone got any idea how to work this thing?

Thank you :)

Oh, it's a Creda Sensair SFH24AW

  • Instruction Manual here

Input is automatic, so you don't have an input dial

  • They aren't the clearest of instructions.

There should be two wall switches adjacent to the heater - are they both on? (one will be off-peak so will only get power at night)

No switches near the heater but found one across the other side of the room so put that on in hope (but really doubt it).

    Oh how I miss GCH!

  • Hi,

are you not able to trace a cable from the heater to a switch?

Check fuse box/consumer unit, might be switched off there, each circuit should be named, living room, bedroom etc.

Did you read this bit in instructions 'How it works', note the bit at the end, about the fan heater using normal priced electricity and being more expensive.

So, be careful using boost and fan heater, unless you are prepared for big bill.

Sorry, tried to copy the part, from link, but was unable to.

Thanks all, that switch seems to have done the trick, got it on now :)

Thank god because I was having to have 2 fan heaters on which as frugal said, probably cost me a fortune!

  • I too have this model of storage heater and am using the boost setting as I cant fathom how the heater stores the heat and how I release it?? If I put the fan on the lowest setting it blows cold air, both my fuse switches are on, does the dial need to be off for the heater to store at night??? So confused and soon to be hit with massive bills :( hope someone can shed some light!!
