Lots of interesting reading, especially the call for all to lobby mp's. We should do the same but in greater numbers in case the argument gets turned around.

I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I've written to my MP, asking him to do the decent thing and oppose any watering-down of the proposed legislation.
oh, and I've warned him to beware of any clamp-monkey offering a free and agreeable lunch, to discuss options.0 -

I was going to do the same. Care to share your wording for ideas, either publically or via p.m.?0 -
I played heavily on the point that the general public abhor the practice of clamping on private property to the enrichment of clamping contractor/owner,I was going to do the same. Care to share your wording for ideas, either publically or via p.m.?
I made clear my belief that the public is unable to discern the difference between rogue clampers and those of the bpa variety, reinforcing disquiet,
I suggested that measures contained within the freedom bill will prove immensely popular with joe public and his (mp's) reputation for fair play and decency could be further enhanced should he choose to issue a press statement endorsing the bill and stating his unqualified opposition to any amendment (of the clamping ban),
I alluded to other avenues open to the PPC's (barriered parking, tickets, etc).
I'll check back with the full text when I can dig it out.0 -
I think LBS needs mentioning in any letter to an MP. Particularly clamping Ambulance with lights on picking up a patient and towing a car and de-registering it the same day then selling it on without giving the owner an opportunity to pay the clamp release and tow fee, and the police and DVLA doing nothing about it.0

Letter sent to my MP via www.writetothem.com
I encouraged him to fully support the Clamping Ban and ignore any representations aimed at watering down or delaying the proposals.
I talked about the widespread problems of abuse by PPC's in dealing with ticketing. I explained how much worse still it is, if a victim has no right of due process other than paying a ransom for release of their own property.
I would encourage others to also get in touch with their MP's.:)0 -
Letter sent to my MP :
"I would like to urge you not to vote for any amendments in the up and coming debate of the Freedom Bill, especially with respect to watering down the ban on wheel clamping.
The parking enforcement industry is almost entirely unregulated and many private parking companies use this to their advantage. As someone who believes in punishments being fair in respect to the infringement, the high fees and bullying tactics these companies use can only be outlawed in any civilised society.
Disabling a vehicle is totally counter productive when ensuring parking spaces are kept for the purpose for which they were designed. With no independent appeals process in place the clampers currently have free reign to use whatever tactics they wish to trap people into paying their "fines".
I look forward to hearing that you support the Freedom Bill in its current guise. "All aboard the Gus Bus !0
