Baby Born dolly - has anyone got one?

My daughter has asked for a new dolly for christmas. She hasn't really specified one in particular. She has a couple of plain dollies that she has had for years, and an old version of the baby annabel doll which father christmas bought for her when she was 3 (she is 8 now). She loves carrying her around and walks her in her buggy. So, in my haste, I went to Argos when they had their 25% off baby born and got "mummy pick me up". She looks quite cute, but I have been thinking about it and am just not sure how much she will get out of it as it is more of a toddler looking doll than a baby. I was looking at the latest version of the baby annabel which cries (although my daughter doesn't seem fussed by this sort of function, nor the wetting nappy function on other dollies).

I don't know if I have posted this is the right place, but I was just wondering if anyone else had a Pick Me Up doll and what they thought. There are 2 reviews on Argos which are both 5 stars, and 1 on Amazon which is 2 stars. I cannot find any other reviews. Whereas baby annabel has 81 4.8stars! I know I shouldn't get influenced with other peoples ratings - after all, peoples expectations are different.

Shall I just leave it? I just don't want to spend the money and her not like it. But then again, she does already have a baby annabel (albeit an old one that doesn't do a lot of the things the new one does, and I think she it cuter than the baby born dolls!).

If anyone has one, please could they let me know what they think?

Thanks.

Well if you've already bought the doll your first instinct was that she would like it. It will probably be her last dolly, so why not make the most of her being young enough to enjoy it?

Thanks. I feel a bit better now. I am conscious that she is 8 and I know her days of playing with dolls are numbered. She is so grown up in some ways, and it surprises me that she still plays with her baby dolls, but I am glad she does - don't want her to grow up too fast!

Thanks again for your replies. xx

My DD's not got that one, but her favourite doll is her Baby Born boy magic potty doll, and shes got some of their mini world sets too.

She's after the Toddler Doll my little sister Rosey from father christmas this year (by the same company).

I've just had a look, and thats really cute. I think you made the right decision. I'm just hoping DD doesn't see one, else she'll be asking for that too.:rotfl:

My daughter has Toddler Sally which she loves playing with. My husband nearly had a heart attack when we put her in the boot one day coz I didn't want to leave her on the back seat of the car. They are quite big! He opened the boot to put some shopping in and the look on his face was pure terror!!!! She does love playing with that though too. She wanted Toddler Sam at one point, but hasnt mentioned that for a while so have put that on the back burner. She'd rather pick a doll up and cuddle it and the Toddler dolls are hard to do that to, but she does get a lot of fun out of it. x

I find the toddler sam doll a bit creepy, but not the Rosey and Sally dolls for some reason.

They've got a special deal on where you get an outfit halfprice, I think the rainy days/sleepwear pack would be good.

I've got a £10 voucher which is burning a hole in my pocket so will definitely get one now. :)

my daughter also has Rosey, she got it when she was 7 I think, it makes a change from baby dolls and she although she doesn't play with it very often now, 2 years later, she won't part with it.
