Carry on and build bed now, or wait?

Hi all,
Got a lovely chunky bunk bed from GLTC, which requires a 2 man team to build (they say 3 hours...) and after counting endless amounts of screws and beginning to open the boxes to inspect the bigger parts, we found one has a massive indented L shaped scratch, which will be visible when built. This wood plank part is to be added on towards the end of the build.
Now, time is of the essence, as I am usually a one woman team... and I have help at the moment, and to get half of it built would be better than not at all.
But what we don't know is how the return will work and I would be really grateful for anyone's advice/knowledge on this. We suspect there will be one of three ways this will work:
1) just the actual part will be replaced
2) the box it came from in its entirity will have to be replaced
3) the entire bed will have to be replaced (5 big boxes)
Anyone had any dealings like this before and can tell me how it was handled? Particularly if with GLTC?
Many thanks!
PS the customer service line will be open tomorrow, but it would be great to get started on it now if we can.

I suspect they will either replace the damaged bit or the entire box it came in if ti doesn't have much else in it. If it does then its likelt it would just be the damaged piece thats replaced.. But there is no way to tell without phoning them. I would do as much as you can wihtout using anything from that box and then just see what they say tomorrow. Yolu could build it up as much as possible but there is always the chance they could ask for more than just teh damaged piece to be replaced.0

Thought I would update anyone that may have wanted an answer to this- we postponed the building that night, and then phoned the GLT company the next day on the Sunday.
First of all we were told how we were to return the item depends on the manufacturer, but eventually after explaining that I had help to build the bed that day, and the part that needed replacing was one of the last pieces, the GTLC guy said to go for it, build away until you can't do any more.
So we did, and at least the kids can now use it. However, unfortunately a week on and I am still non the wiser as to when I will get a replacement, and if the GTLC guy was right to say to crack on and build it! In addition although the bed can be used, it really does need to be completed asap in case anything breaks, or anyone gets hurt because of it!
What a pain ay? Will let you know the outcome anyway for future reference for anyone else wondering if they should cont to build or not!!0
