Hello
I have been recieving call of late from a company called CCS advising me that i can make a claim against a loan i borrowed some years ago.
I asked them how they could tell and they said the information is on a national database
They named the approx amount and the amount i maybe was entitled to.
I have paid the loan off after a year of borrowing the money and paid a considerable amount more back then what i orginally borrowed.
They did ask for £200.00 up front to pay for admin/invetigation fees.
I asked them to call me back in 2 weeks time as i wanted to look into CCS but i am unable to find anything.
Has anyone heard of CCS. I am also a bit worried about the £200.00 up front...its all well if i get the monies owed but it all seems a bit to good to be true....

hello you can apply for any charges back yourself, it may have been an insurance you may have taken out with the loan. if this is correct there are template letters on here for to adjust and send out with no up front charges....i would not pay anything0 -
When i paid the loan off about 5 years ago i binned all the paperwork. I think the company was called source but not sure.....Where do i start to investigate to see if i do have a claim.0

Hi there
I agree with lucia85, if you have a reclaim you can do this yourself, do not bother with claims companies, they only do what we do here and all you require to start with is your account number.
What you can do to try to track down the loan account number is - if you bank online and were paying the loan payments every month out of this same account, the account number should be shown next to the monthly repayments, and this should allow you to go back the last 7 years online statements.
I would not pay a claims company when this can be done all free, apart from the posting at the post office which is suggested.
You just pursue the ones who set up the loan from the start, by completing the reclaiming questionnaire, send to their head office, remember to keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision and should keep you informed of the progress of your complaint.
You will find the reclaiming quetionnaire on link below, this replaced the reclaim template letter.

Many on here have had lots of hassle using claims companies, so be be aware of this and if you need further help, there are lots of us that can help from these forums and as stated all free.
Good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

There is no national database. That is just one of their many lies. The dodgy claims companies get hold of data from ex employees or buy it from dodgy sources. Sometimes they play the odds game on the phone and pretend they know but ask questions that get you to reveal it.They named the approx amount and the amount i maybe was entitled to.
The figure is a random figure to try and appeal to consumer greed. If the figure was small, you would tell them where to go. When they start using big figures, you listen to what they have to say. They did ask for £200.00 up front to pay for admin/invetigation fees.
That is where the real money is to them. Lets say each sales rep they have (none of whom have any qualifications or knowledge in the field) phone 100 people a day and get 10 sign ups. Thats £2000 a day per sales rep.Has anyone heard of CCS. I am also a bit worried about the £200.00 up front...its all well if i get the monies owed but it all seems a bit to good to be true....
Many of the ones that have asked for up front money have closed down or been shut down and taken that money with them. Do not waste your money.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). 1. Claims Management Company's are not supposed to cold call.
2. There is a sort of national database - experian hold records of all loans - but not whether they have ppi - it's possible this may have been hacked into - but I've not heard of it, so they were probably just guessing as most people have had loans in the past.
3. NEVER NEVER NEVER pay anything up front, I had a client contact me after one cmc had rung her to say they could get her £95,000 over her large number of loans - they wanted £5000 up front. It turned out her loans were buy to let and they don't sell PPI on those - so she would have paid £5k for absolutely nothing !!0
