Your Career and CCJs

Options
[FONT=&quot]Hi

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I recently became aware that I have a CCJ against my name, which I am now trying to sort out, and deal with asap. I found this out by getting a credit report.

In the past when I was an undergrad student living away from home AND in a different country from all my family, I was stupid enough to build up debt to live/survive off in order to complete my studies. Not being entitled to any student loans, or fee payment grants etc, I built up a debt of roughly £17,000 over my four years of study. A necessary expense for my education and career I feel.

I now have a successful seven year career as a professional registered social worker and was wondering if this CCJ will cause me problems going forward in my career? The CCJ was for bad debt, ie financial reasons. Not for any criminal matter or conviction etc. Will this be problematic and now cause me to lose my career?

In addition, I was recently thinking about going back to college to retrain as a legal executive or solicitor. I guess that is now out the question, as they totally frown upon CCJs, even if satisfied? Is this right?

Since I left Uni I've tried to be so careful with debt, AND now have entered into an informal debt management plan (not an IVA) with a company to get things sorted. It's going well so far.

Can anyone offer me any advice?

Thanks. It would be most welcome.
