But its not likely to be paid back until next month....unless you work for a really nice company

i could cope with that, so long as the level of tax wasn't repeated every month. i got a new job to get more money, not the same.

shoudl the employee to date totals be only what i paid for this company or from all wages for the tax year??

It should be your P45 + wages to date in this new company i.e all your wages from April.

Can't work out if your P45 figures compute correctly - 'cos you haven't listed the Week number you left. But you'll notice there's no NIC figure on there - as it's not cumulative (a question you asked earlier)

Starting point is your payroll people rather than HMRC. Unless the P45 figures turn out to be wrong.

If it's a local payroll issue - they can issue a supplementary payment if its their fault.

it seems to me (and i will relook tomorrow or is it today?) that acccording to your P45 you under paid tax in your previous emplyment.... maybe you could check your actual payslips....the year to date total of your final payslip ought to match your P45 totals....i'm assuming you left during August ?

Then your next pay was Sept but on a wk1/mth1 basis

then this salary is for october

Yes - I suspect that is where it's gone wrong. But it looks like an error rather than the P45 figure being missing.

PAYE normally!! shows up with an explanation of why additional moneys have been taken but yes you could be right in that as it covers the whole financial year(but once sorted you will get the money you originally expected)

Maybe - they should always make sure that it is more or less right year to date - that way you avoid any large tax bills at the end of the year.

Your payroll should be able to help you out straight away (they deducted the tax after all), but if you want some help we can recalculate the tax by month from the start of the tax year, if you have pay by month to see where it might have gone wrong. PM me if you want some help.
