Genuine Leathers
The other day I bought from Tesco a Genuine Leather because the synthetic one I had previously was so useless and would'nt absorb correctly.
Could someone please tell me why these Leathers are nowadays so small - hardy large enough to hold - years ago they were actually a decent size?

Because you bought one cheap from tescos?
You need to get a proper sized one from a decent car accessory shop OR online.

And i too prefer a good old fashioned chamois than these new synthetic thingys!0 -

Leathers dont soak much water up they meant to move water off the car
Your best keeping leather chamois slightly wet before using. I tend to use a large micro fibre cloth its about the size of a tea towel it does out car0 -

I find even the best micro fibre cloths leave a very fine trail of water where they've been, that you dont get with a good damp chamois.
Personal preference i guess. My son swears by micro fibre cloths, but my 10 year old chammy still gives a drier finish.0 -
Yes you can get slightly damp finish depends which can quickly dry of unless its a cold day. I dont tend to dry car much this time of year
But like I said I use a big micro fibre cloth so its probably not as bad as a small one
Dont for good sake get pone of those plastic blade things they can scratch the car, as I found out0 -
I use a micro fibre drying towel. I find I only have to place the towel on the paintwork for it to absorb the water which means there is no need to drag the towel across the paintwork which always has to be good.0

+1, I'd also recommend a good drying towel over a chamois any day. Most professional car valeters/detailers I know avoid chamois leathers.0
