Tumble dryer help....

Hi all, I have a Creda tumble dryer which has just packed up on me.
The hot air is still blowing but the drum is not turning, does anyone have any idea what this is, also is it something we could fix ourselves?
If not, what would be a typical price?
Thanks so much.

Sounds like the belt. This is like a car fan belt that links the motor to the drum and hence makes it turn. Relatively straightforward I guess, but no idea of the cost.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Agreed, it sounds like the belt. They're pretty easy to fit yourself.
If you google the make and model, you should be able to pick up a belt online cheaply enough.0 -
Hi,
aye, sounds like the belt.
If the drum spins freely then the belt is broken or has been flung off with an unbalanced load, you would normally feel a bit of resistance.
If it's not the belt it could be the brushes on the motor, though I think you would've noticed the machine starting to have problems spinning.
Have a look here for belts, though do a search you may find cheaper, and here's a wee video, give you an idea what's involved.
Right, that's the leg work done for you, I'll have my coffee now,.0 -
Could also be the capacitor on the motor. I checked mine by defeating the open door switch with a small screwdriver and then quickly turning the drum with the timer switch on. If it runs on then it's the capacitor. Cost a few pounds from Maplin. Make sure you make a sketch of the wires to it before replacement.0
