Sky doesn't make sense! Please help!

I've just invested in a lovely new Sony Bravia 40 inch HD tv and would love some more HD channels. Virgin media doesn't have that many, so I thought I'd take a look at Sky. I've been looking through their site and even talked to some person on their chat, but can't make much sense of it all.

What I've gathered is with the Sky + hd box you get £50 m&s vouchers, free install and free box, but you pay £10 p/month to get 44 hd channels, correct?

If so, what are these channels? Couldn't find a list anywhere on the site and the chat person was no help ):

Sky also say you have to pay atleast £19.50 per month for another package and if so... what are these "packages" and what channels do they include?

This is so confusing I am very fed up and might as well stick with Virgin for all the confusion sky is giving me... so please help guys thanks :)

The HD sub is indeed £10pm. You will only get all HD channels if you subscribe to the full Sky pack plus Sky Sports & Movies. Otherwise you get the HD version of whatever SD packs you subscribe to.

  • As you've said you'd have to have at least 1 basic package for your £19 and then add the £10 HD sub on top.

If you took the Variety pack with the HD sub, you'd get the channels listed at jem's HD channel list, the non-subscription channels and I believe the bonus HD channels, giving a total of 17 HD channels for your £29/month.

Your on-going monthly costs for all Entertainment packs and HD would be £34/month.

Obviously, it's the Sports and Movie channel packs that almost double the monthly Sky World subscription.

Hope myself and Jem's posts clear things up a bit.

I too am looking at this package but NOT too interested in the HD packages. What i want to do is go for the £19.50pm deal which has the Sky + box Broadband adn Telephone calls (the one with the Frog in adverts) but want the HD box instead..:rotfl: Not sure is this is possible.. cos the free to air HD channels like BBCHD and C4HD etc are good enough for me at mo.. ;)

Anyone done this and any suggestions as the site has no allowance for this?

    Cheers

Think that you will get a HD+ box anyway if you are a new subscriber -don't think they are issuing Sky+ boxes routinely any more.

We are an exisiting Sky customer and upgraded to Sky+ yesterday (don't have HD TV) and was told they are now only doing Sky HD+ boxes. We are paying for our basic package and if we deceide to upgrade our tv anytime we will be able to get the free HD channels.:)
