Well the supplier came back to me and they have spokent to stressless and they have offered for someone from the FIRA to come over and have a look at it but if they find any kind of chemical or abrasive on it then they will not fix it and will charge me for their time. We are quite sure it is baby dribble but as we have possibly wiped it with a baby wipe since as we thought it was a mark on the chair rather than discolouration then I doubt it will go in our favour so have accepted their offer to get stressless to send me some gliptone paint free of charge. It only costs £14.35 but every penny helps.

If every penny helps, may I ask why you bought a £2700 sofa?

The problem I see with accepting this as a final offer is that if it turns out the leather finish is indeed faulty, it may stain equally easily again in the future and you'll resent using it.
  • The baby wipes thing was actually recommended to me by the owner of the shop although obviously I couldn't prove that. We are now going to try to get hold of a leather protection kit that includes wipes suitable for quick wiping which I think will be an essential with young children. I don't think the baby wipe actually caused this problem as we used it after the mark was already there but we won't be using them again just in case it causes any other problems if the leather is this sensitive.

The reason I bought a £2700 sofa and two chairs is because I have a back problem and I want to do anything I can to try to make it better and stop it happening again and I could no longer sit on soft sofas due to severe pain so this was the firmest I could find. I am in my 20's and this is the second time I have been left unable to walk much but this time I have 2 young children and no family around to help so really need to be well.
Due to the fact I had to take out a loan to be able to afford this sofa, every penny really does help. The £14.35 saving on the gliptone will be going towards the donation I will need to make to the red cross on Friday when I borrow a wheelchair from them.
