not entitled to jobseekers allowance

Heres one for you, I recieved my letter this am stating I am not entitled to JSA as apparently I have not paid enough class 1 national insurance contributions, yet I was in full time employment for the period of time they checked!! Not sure what to do next as I actually have a sick note from the doctor stating I am not fit to work but they will not pay me ESA eihther! I have worked full time all my life and when you need a bit of help its not there, I'm at a loss as to why we pay national insurance at all, as when you want help you can't get it. Also why do we pay income tax? ... this government and their rules stink! Any advice with these problems would be greatly appreciated as now at my wits end with worry etc and what to do next.

  • Whyare you not getting paid ESA? If you have been for the medical and they have found you fit for work but you disagree, you still get paid while you appeal..

Assuming this is not just a wind up troll posting, why don't you qualify for JSA income based either.

Regarding the conts it is possible the NI record is not up to date.If you can supply either your p45 or last p60 they should be able to review your award based on that.

If you have paid NICs for that period and they're not showing, you need to look into why that's the case. If there's any possibility that your employer was deducting the money but not paying it in, it might also be a good idea to check that your income tax for that period has been correctly paid to HMRC.

Take your P60s for the relevant tax years into the Jobcentre & they'll sort it out for you - unless there's an Occupational Pension you've not mentioned that's being deducted?

if you don't have enough contributuions you'd be paid income related ESA or JSA but this would depend if you had any other income coming in (including that from any partner) and/or if you have excess capital
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
