no it wasn't I used my easyjet card in 2009 to make a one off payment0

The authorisation will have transferred with the card. You need to check the paperwork of what was signed for the original payment to see if it was a CPA.0

it was a one off payment over the phone nothing was signed0

OK . But the point is, whether it was signed, verbal, in a policy document or scribbled on the back of a napkin, there is an agreement somewhere as to what the payment was for and whether or notthey had the right to take it in subsequent years.
And from experience, it's very common with the AA to have this in the contract. But you will need to investigate for yourself.0 -
as I said it was a one off payment in 2009, they didn't take anything in 2010 and now this year they have taken a payment from me and have been paid by direct debit by my daughter. The more I am writing this the more I think that it must be the aa's fault0

I am another Citi to Opus victim. I receive statements from them............. sometimes!
After the switch I did a little research and found nothing but negative information. Since then I have not used the card (about 12 months now. I cut it up at the time and only have a balance left of £90, whilst with Citi I had it around the 2K mark.
I've never had the pleasure of speaking to Opus, and to be fair, I make £45 payments weekly via standing order and they do go through without problem.
After reading the above posts, I think it will be a waste of time trying to phone them up to settle the account. I'll write them a recorded letter to get the account closed along with a cheque for the final balance.I don't make mistakes! I make prophecies which immediately turn out to be wrong...............0 -
Just to balance some of these comments, I was also concerned with the transfer from Citi to Opus. I had a lifetime balance transfer with Citi at 3.9% and was concerned it would not be transferred correctly.
I need not have worried. The transition was smooth. Also, I have not suffered problems with a change of name of account: my additional cardholder received a replacement card but it was correctly addressed to me. The direct debit has been moved correctly and is debited on time. I receive my statements promptly every month.0 -

Same here I am at 6.0% and my statements keep coming and the rates are correct and quote "until paid in full"
My purchase rate goes up to 31.82% in May which is truly shocking but they can put it up to whatever they like because I will never use the card.0
