Power Shower Cutting Out

Hi
I have a Stuart Turner Monsoon power shower and have an intermittent problem where the shower cuts out or just doesnt kick in when you start it.
To fix it, I will switch it off at the mains then back on again, run the hot water through a tap and then most of the time it restarts. Sometimes not though. A plumber just scratched his head and said it needs replacing but i'm not so sure.
anyone else come accross this problem before and have solutions / suggestions?
