Income protection and PILON.

I am not sure if this is the right place as I had no replies on the insurance thread.

my partner as been claiming on his income protection policy due to ill health for quite a while, his employers are indicating they will finish him on incapacity grounds soon but he will get PILON.
can anyone advise if the PILON will effect his income protection policy payments?

How can anyone know you don't even say who the policy is with or anything about it

You need to check the policy and/or check with the company.
  • I was asking incase anyone had any personal experience.
I would have prefered to have an idea before checking with the company as Insurance companies are not known for thier honesty.
It does not explicitly mention it in the policy, that is not to say they will not try to drag it in under another clause.
    Thank you for your input.
  • Typically the policies do not pay out while you are receiving PILON. They are designed to pay out when you don't have an income. You need to look very carefully at the policy documentation.

i had a income protection plan, and any wages i recieved made no difference to the payouts.i simply had to supply sick notes.so should think pillon wouldn't make any difference.tell your hubby best wishes c.k

THe trick though is to get the PILON as compensation and to work/sick as much of the notice as you can so there is no official PILON that can be taken into account.

A comprimise agreement is one way to impliment this.
