Car Parking Partnership Civil Parking Notice

I got on this site today by complete chance and I read about Civil Parking Notices.
Couple of weeks ago my mate gave me one which he had forgotten to pay as he had lost his wallet and didn't have any cards to pay it with. He was also past his "discount time" so he paid a full charge of £120 for Code: 81A Vehicle parked outside a designated bay.
Now I paid the charge using my card and I am neither the driver (at the time) nor the owner. My friend is also not the owner of the car as it is a company car which is solely owned by his boss.
Any advice of a possible refund or anything else?

Regrettably, I don't see any way in which a refund would be given by the ppc or claimable from C/card. Possibly others will be abble to give you better news.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

A charge back on your credit card may be possible. However a lot of these so called tickets [invoices] have a sentence which normally reads something like this which is a quote from mine.
"Payment of the parking charge will be taken as acceptance of the breach of terms and conditions for parking in the named car park, and that the information herein is entirely accurate"
I don't now how that would stand up in a court, or if you could say it was paid under duress, but I would assume a credit card company would say sorry you have agreed to pay.0 -
It does not have anything like the following:
"Payment of the parking charge will be taken as acceptance of the breach of terms and conditions for parking in the named car park, and that the information herein is entirely accurate"
I can issue a chargeback, but on what grounds?
What will happen now if my mate parks there again?0 -
You can try asking for a chargeback but I doubt the credit card co will allow it. Your friend's money has long gone - he should have got you to Google private parking tickets rather than get your card out to pay the scumbags.
It was NOT a fine, sorry to ask but it's got to be said - why on earth did he (and you) just fall for it?
I am really trying to understand WHY so many people still see what 'looks like' a parking ticket and actually just believe it and pay it, whatever the amount or spurious reason for issue? The older generation, yes, I can see why they pay what appears to be a 'fine' because they were brought up not to question perceived authority and often they don't realise that there are people out there to scam you.
But anyone under 60 !!!!!! what are you thinking when you pay?
Rant over.
And BTW nothing will happen when he parks there again. He may get another bogus ticket one day - but he won't fall for that old scam again surely??PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Car Parking Partnership is a trading name of Liberty Printers (A R & R F Reddin) Ltd and are actually based in London. Under one of their alternative trading names - Liberty Services - their principal business is in providing car parking and traffic enforcement supplies to the police, local government and PPC's. Their printing services website may be found here.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I have only heard of one case where someone has sued for the return of their money, however she was a solicitor and even then I think it was not easy.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Issue is whether the paperwork duped you into believing you were obliged to pay. PPC's rarely issue ordinary invoices, only invoices with threats and lies.0
