  • I have just been looking on Yahoo finance, and for Max it says 1y target estimate 430.50

I assume this is basically the target for the share price over the next year?

The VERY weird thing is I am 110% sure I checked Yahoo yesterday and the 1y target was 35p - almost certain

can these change so much so quickly or is something going on?
  • MXP is a punt just like the lot of them CAZA is another on waiting on flow tests, why not invest in them? Sam principle eh?

I would assume Yahoo was wrong quoting 430.50, 35p is far more realistic (and possibly concervative depending on news going forward).

Looks like they had 3 analysts quoting figures around 25-45p and then another one said 1666.87.

Probably got some shares he wants to offload.
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis
  • I would think its just a typing error, like you say 35p more realistic............unless they he know something most dont, and mxp have found an ocean of oil.

For anyone interested in MXP, Renaissance Capital recently published a detailed company update summary and prospects which I would say is fair based on the risks / rewards for the stock currently.

  • Hi cloud, thanks for the link, I have read through the report, and most of it is japanese to me, but from a basic point of view it would seem there is quite a lot going on at mxp from now until June 2011

has anyone gone a breakdown of what they will be doing between now and June? looks like testing the well, some work over rig, getting more funding, what is a farm in partner? then they want to drill to deeper depths , i assume there is more oil at the deeper depths.

if there is oil in the well they are testing are renasise capital saying it will go to 35p?
  • Im a newbie of 5 months to shares, having looked over Xcite (XEL) since before i started ill give you some background, the company hit drilled the same spot there drilling now in 2008 iirc but due to numerous factors, weather, conditions, rig the flow test wasnt very good.
This time around they have a very experienced management team, they have a deep sea rig for production/exploration.
Xel have also partnered up with BP to mix the oil once found, the have finance in place with an alliance i cant quite remember the name of to the sum of around 40 million.
I was watching this company from 79p but didnt have funds and my balls in place until 112p, i have held the complete amount still even now im currently around 130% in profit but lots more is expected, you have to think the oil was ALREADY there it just needs bringing to the surface, comparing MXP and XEL is like comparing a an apple to a pear its not the same, no 2 companies are!.
This company is that confident of getting oil this time around they have already booked the next production rig before they have even the latest flow test results, if you look on iii disucusion and Xcite webpage itll tell you everything about the company.

Ive missed out loads and probably got some info a bit wrong but without doing your own research your just listening to someone else about investing money on a whim.
I've looked into MXP a little and decided ill use some profit post XEL RNS to invest in MXP upto around 25p.

The OP was just looking at the SP and not looking in to the detail.

I don't follow XEL but from what I have read they have signed a letter of intent so not quite set in stone yet. Erveryone's waiting on the flow rates.

XEL is where MXP want to be by the end of next year, i.e. drilling a successful deep well.
