WD My Book Premium help

I have just bought the Western Digital My Book Premium external drive.

The reason I bought the premium was because I believed that if i used the firewire connection I would not have to use the power supply that you have to use with the USB connection.

I have just plugged it in and cant get it working without the power supply so am i doing something wrong or was my original idea of using firewire so i didnt need an external power supply wrong?

Cheers

would have thought that you would have needed the power supply whatever connection method you were using.
looking at the specs the power supply input is 100-240v, mains power.
you probably need a smaller 2.5" driver for it to be bus powered
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
